David Carr Lists Mansion, Ups His Nerd Cred

What’s David Carr been up to these days? Judging by the mansion he’s selling in Central California, the former Fresno State star and No.1 pick in the 2002 NFL Draft has been spending a lot of time at Comic-Con.

Carr has put his home in Bakersfield up for sale, and in the process has totally upped his nerd cred. Listed for $2.8 million, the property appears to be just like any other star athlete’s home. There’s your standard assortment of bedrooms and bathrooms — six and five, respectively — a gourmet kitchen, various formal living areas and a gym. Outside, the prime entertainer’s setting comes together with a patio, an outdoor kitchen and a pool with a water slide.

But it would be a great disservice if we didn’t point out a few of Carr’s decorating choices, like, say, the Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man statues in the den, or the life-size statues of Batman and Superman in his nifty home theater, which seems to have also received the Star Trek treatment. Update: Apparently Carr’s love of super heroes has been well documented.

Carr, 34, played four seasons in Houston after the expansion Texans selected him first overall in 2002. He has also played for the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and, most recently, with the New York Giants in 2012. His younger brother, Derek, also starred at quarterback for the Fresno State Bulldogs and is considered a potential top choice in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Rob Anderson of The Anderson Team has the listing.
